Flying Gliders the Mockler's Way !

Flying Glider's the Mockler's way might be a bit Challenging and costly!

Here is the article that Charlie Spratt posted in his newsletter about Mockler at the Seniors.  It is my understanding that Mockler took delivery of that glider in January.  You can zoom in and see that he is still sitting in the glider.

Another serious accident happened today at the Seniors. After the launch was complete and the countdown to the task opening was underway Dick Mockler discovered he did not have his water bottle. He called the ground and got the all clear to land to the north. He had plenty of altitude on the downwind and had his dive brakes out all the way. Dick was flying his new ASW-27 when on base he was suddenly to low and went into the sapling pine trees at the end of the runway. After several horrible “whacks” the plane came to rest with the right wing on the ground and left wing trapped in a tree. Dick was unharmed and after some work making sure the plane was stable a ladder was laid against the side of the fuselage and Dick climbed down to the ground. The plane is a total loss but Dick escaped without a scratch.
